I have Deep Gratitude For My Teachers And theiR Guidance Along the Way
Education/Journey
My journey with health and wellness started in 5th grade when I decided to go on weight watchers because I was overweight and unhappy with my physical body. At a very young age I learned the discipline and willpower that it takes to create lasting change in the body. After losing 50lbs at the age of eleven, I continued my journey as an athlete all the way through college, playing baseball, basketball, and ultimate frisbee. In college I transitioned to outdoor recreation such as hiking, running, backpacking, and climbing. In 2011, my freshman year of college, I had a traumatic climbing accident which began my path of healing and bodywork.
My first form of bodywork education came from receiving massage every week for almost 3 years. Besides just helping with pain, massage teaches us kinesthetic awareness which is our ability to feel and understand what is happening in our bodies. When people ask me about my education, I cannot stress enough how much I learned and continue to learn from receiving bodywork. I am eternally grateful to my massage therapist at the time, Rebecca Noble, for helping me on my healing journey. She is located in Olympia, WA and is an exceptional bodyworker.
While I was healing from my accident, I continued my studies at the Evergreen State College where I received a Bachelors of Science with a focus in Food Sciences, Nutrition, and Agricultural Sustainability. For those 4 years I also was on a personal journey seeking healing modalities that could help me with my pain: yoga, reiki, feldenkrais, chi-gong, acupuncture, herbal tinctures, exercise, and massage. In 2016 I decided I wanted to go back to school to study massage therapy. I went to the City University of New York’s healing arts program in Queens, NY and became a Licensed Massage therapist in New York City in June of 2017. By this point I could confidently say that I had recovered from my injury and was back to all the activities I loved. Now it was my turn to give back and help others on their healing paths.
